Fortnum Foundation raises over $40 000
for children’s charities
A Thai orphanage and a fledgling school in Uganda will be among the international recipients of funds raised by the Fortnum Foundation during August’s Fortnum Financial Advisers Conference. Closer to home, the Alannah and Madeleine Foundation, Western Australia’s Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital will also receive significant contributions from donations gathered at Fortnum’s annual conference.
In total, more than $40,000 was raised on behalf of the Fortnum Foundation which is made up of Fortnum advisers who raise funds to support children in need. Neil Macdonald from Fairway Financial Advice said he feels proud to be a part of a company whose professional values align with altruistic endeavours that go well beyond the boardroom.
“The work of the Fortnum Foundation is a reflection of our commitment to serve our community with empathy,” Neil said. “We don’t just talk the talk. The Fortnum Foundation helps us to walk the walk, by donating to charities that make a significant difference to children in need, both here at home and overseas.”
In addition to assisting well-known children’s charities, the Fortnum Foundation also supports fledgling organisations. Ben Audet said “It is wonderful to be able to help identify and nurture new support groups that crop up to fill growing demand or unmet needs within our community”.
Benefactors of this year’s donations will also include a Brisbane-based accommodation centre for families of children suffering from cancer. The Fortnum Foundation funds will also contribute to Brisbane’s Music Industry College, which nurtures talented students who may struggle within traditional teaching environments.
All recipients of Fortnum Foundation donations must hold ATO Charity Status or be registered as an approved Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Charity and charity administration costs must not exceed 20% of income.
