My wife Amanda and I have two teenage boys who keep us on our toes. I love travelling having lived in London and backpacked across Europe in my younger days. Being ‘from the bush’ I have a great affinity with the land and spending time in the garden, as well as playing tennis, golf and studying the sharemarket.
Taking time to really get to know people enables me to tailor every strategy and plan for each specific client. Right from the first meeting, my approach is to get to the heart of what is truly needed. I have a genuine desire to help people succeed financially.
I strongly believe financial planning isn’t about money. That might sound contradictory, but really, planning is about people – their dreams, their concerns, their future. Money is merely the means to get you there and should not be the sole focus when planning your life.
My view is that financial planning cannot have a one-size-fits-all approach. Each client has different dreams and with over 19 years of experience in the industry, I not only understand the theory of planning but also has the practical know-how of what actually works.
For me as the custodian of people’s money the first and foremost important step is managing the RISK of investing and navigating volatility ‘ups and downs.’ No-one should have to feel the stresses of not having enough money in /or for retirement.
Growing up on the farm the son of a Jackaroo taught me the virtues of integrity ‘Your handshake is your word.’ On the land this is your word to your fellow farmer / stranger that you meet and is relied upon as a given that you will carry out your word on a handshake. Living in the ‘big smoke’ I continue to conduct my life in this way. Particularly with my clients, trust is so important in this profession when you are the custodian of people’s money. It’s the Right Thing To Do!
